Accessibility statement
The standard this site is built to, the parts still being corrected, and how to tell us about a barrier you hit.
APT Insurance LLC wants every owner and manager who needs this site to be able to use it, including people who use a screen reader, magnification, voice control or a keyboard alone. This accessibility statement sets out the standard the site is built to, what has been done to meet it, where we know it still falls short, and how to tell us about a barrier.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. This is a statement of the standard we build and test against. It is not a claim that every page meets every criterion.
What the site does
- Text contrast. Body text, labels and links are checked against their backgrounds for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1, including text placed over photographs, which is measured against the lightest part of the image behind it.
- Structure. Each page has one main heading, heading levels are not skipped, and pages use landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer so assistive technology can move between them.
- Images. Every informative image carries a text alternative describing it.
- Keyboard use. A "skip to main content" link is the first thing the keyboard reaches on every page, so the header navigation can be passed over. Links, menus, buttons and form fields can be reached and used from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline. The answers to frequently asked questions use native disclosure controls, which work with the keyboard and screen readers without any script.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label. When a form is sent with a problem, the page says which field needs attention and why, keeps what you typed, and moves focus to the first error. Both forms work with JavaScript turned off.
- Motion. Hover effects and animation are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion. The moving background on the home page plays only on larger screens, has no sound, and does not play at all when reduced motion is set.
- Zoom and small screens. Pages reflow to a single column on narrow screens and can be zoomed without content being cut off or needing to scroll sideways.
Where we know it falls short
This is the gap we know about, and it is on our list to correct. Our testing has been done by the people who built the site, with automated checks and manual keyboard testing. The site has not yet been reviewed by an independent accessibility auditor or tested by people who rely on assistive technology every day, and that kind of testing usually finds problems the builders do not.
Other ways to reach us
You do not have to fill in the online quote request to work with us. To start, send a short note through the contact page, or call (636) 678-8197, or write to info@propertyinsurancepartners.com, and a broker will take down the rest of the details with you in whatever way suits you. Every other step of a placement, from the first document to the bound policy, can be handled the same way, and documents can be provided in whatever format you are able to send.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of the site is hard to use, please tell us: the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it. Use the form on the contact page, write to info@propertyinsurancepartners.com, or call (636) 678-8197. We will reply, and if the problem is ours, we will tell you what we are doing about it.
